- An Apostille is a certification provided under the Hague Convention of 1961 for the purpose of authenticating documents for use in foreign countries. An Apostille serves the sole function of certifying the authenticity of the signature of documents.
- Applicants from America, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, and South Africa can get their documents Apostilled, but Canadians cannot. Without first getting local notarization, your documents cannot be Apostilled so make sure you get all your documents notarized before getting them Apostilled.
- Documents to be Apostilled before being sent to Korea are your national criminal background check which is clean record, and a notarized copy of your degree not older than 6 months.
- For Canadians
- Since Canada is not a signatory of the Hague Convention, Canadians cannot get their documents Apostilled. Instead, you must get your documents certified by a Korean Embassy or Consulate in your area.
- Without local notarization first, your documents won’t be able to receive certification by the Korean Embassy or Consulate, so make sure you get all your documents notarized before getting them certified by the Korean Embassy or Consulate.
- Documents to be certified by Korean Embassy or Consulate before being sent to Korea are your national criminal background check with a clean and a notarized copy of your degree not older than 6 months.
